Parents: Please look for your child's leveled reader book on Monday, April 23 in their Take Home Folder. It will be accompanied by a letter explaining what to do.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

 In this area each week I will be giving you information on what skills to practice for Reading, Spelling, and Math for the week.  Please check here weekly as it is very useful information that you can practice with your child.  Reading:

Blue Reading Group:  Your new skill is the hard G sound as in "gorilla." Your new tricky words are: go, gorilla, Koko, no, so, wanted.    

Yellow Reading Group: Your new skills are the beginning "y" sound like in "yarn" and the schwa sound "a" as in "ago,."  Your new tricky words are: America, father, grandfather, grandmother, husband, Moko, often, onto, says, thumb, your, yourself.    

Red Group:   Your new skill is the "wh" sound as in  as in "whale"  and "what." Your new tricky words is: what.  

Spelling words for this week are: be, did, do, if, not, one, saw, she, so, swing, them, three, two, what, could, start.

Please practice these word for our test on Friday!

Math keep practicing those facts!! Our latest ones are tricky.  They are called the doubles plus one like: 1+2, 2+3 , 3+4, 4+5, 5+6, 6+7, 7+8, 8+9, 9+10. The way we learn to do those is to take the smaller number and double it, then add one.  (For example with 5+6, we take the smaller number 5 and double it and get 10.  Then we add 1 and we get 11!!)  You are all doing a great job!! In particular focus on the new double plus ones.  I sent home small, pink flashcards on Friday March 23 to practice with.
